Shanghai's One Dog Policy.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12563432

Shanghai already follows the One Child Policy, and now it seems they are trying to limit the number of dogs owned by people as well. Owners must register their dogs to the authorities, those who do not will have their dogs taken from them. The article states that the Chinese will probably find a loophole through this policy, just like the limit of properties.Certain dogs, under the new laws, are banned from teh city. One of these dogs are the British bullodg, which ironically has one of the sweetest temperments among the canine family.

  1. Honestly, I don't even see this as a bad thing. Of course limiting dogs is a necessary action. If over a billion people all had dogs or even half the population the cities would be filled with germs and dogs amok everywhere. Dogs have to go outside and do there business all the time, they run away, and they are dirty and don't bathe themselves. Limiting dogs means less stray dogs and then less will be euthanized.

  2. It is ironic that the very pet known as a "nanny dog" by the English is one of the dogs on the banned list. The limitation of the number of dogs allowed per family is just another in a series of limitations the Chinese government has placed on the Chinese people. I am curious to see the consequences of such actions. As the article mentions, people found ways around the limit of land allowed per family, and I personally know of people who immigrated from China to the United States when they placed the limit on childbirth. It will be an interesting show to see how the Chinese people maneuver around the law, or if they do at all.
