China's 'Go-To' Typical American Guy

Another possible career in China!  But all kidding aside, Kos-Read's career is a fascinating microcosm of China's changing perceptions of their place in the world and the baggage that comes with those changes.

  1. This is Great! Exactly what I've been looking for :D
As a westerner I know how China is portrayed in the Media and public consciousness, but what fascinates me is figuring out how my culture is perceived (for better or worse).
This article may not be a definitive guide to the popular perceptions of America and the west in China, but popular culture is the pulse of a civilization. It can convey (and influence) typical opinions in the broadest strokes, and I find it fascinating.

  2. I love this. It is amazing how well he is doing in china or at least i think so. I would really like to watch one of his shows some time. I found it pretty interesting that he never really played an evil American, instead he played some one from another western country to be evil. Maybe America is not portrayed as negatively as i had originally thought it would be.
