I present you "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf", the stars of animation made-in-China. The storylines are similar to the ones in The Three Little Pig, or Tom and Jerry: a predator (the wolf) tries to cath a prey (here a flock of sheep), but constantly fails. The cartoon has been a big hit in China and derived products flourish everywhere. The article explains that the animations made in China are increasing in capital and production, helped by the administration that stipulated that "from Sept 1, 2006, all television channels across China were to telecast only made-in-China animation features during the prime period from 5pm to 8pm". This blooming of Chinese animation is also reflected in the nomination of a Chinese made animation for the last ceremony of the Oscar.(The dreams of Jinsha). Nevertheless, the article mentions that international cartoons such as Dora the Explorer are still among the favorite in China. Some people might think that it is due to the technology backwardness, but the vice-president of the Shanghai Animation Film Studio believes that the current approach is too preachy. It would be interesting to see the production of animation in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
