Chinese Women Trapped

This article from China Daily reveals that, in spite of the many radical changes in Chinese society, women are still suffering. Tradition expects them to remain in or around the home and therefore they are not able to establish social connections so as to further their societal standing or financial situation. They are forced to rely almost entirely on their husbands for survival. Coupled with the traditional Chinese customs of taking care of the husbands' parents, this creates a vicious cycle that essentially traps these women for their entire lives.
